Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2025
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using DocDox (docdox.app), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use DocDox. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
2. Description of Service
DocDox provides free browser-based tools for processing PDF documents, images, and text. All tools operate client-side in your browser — your files are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded to or stored on DocDox servers, except where explicitly stated (such as the AI Summarizer, which transmits text to the Claude API).
DocDox is provided free of charge and is supported by display advertising.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use DocDox only for lawful purposes. You may not:
- Use DocDox to process files you do not have the legal right to process, copy, or modify. - Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the service. - Use automated scripts or bots to make excessive requests to the service. - Use DocDox to process materials that violate applicable laws, including copyright, privacy, or data protection laws.
You are solely responsible for the files you upload and the results you produce using DocDox.
4. No Warranty
DocDox is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the results produced by any tool (including but not limited to PDF conversion, compression, OCR, and AI summarization) will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.
File conversion and processing tools may produce imperfect results depending on the source document. Always review outputs before relying on them professionally. DocDox is not a substitute for professional document review, legal advice, medical advice, or financial advice.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DocDox and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of business, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
6. Intellectual Property
The DocDox name, logo, and website design are the intellectual property of DocDox. The underlying open-source libraries used by DocDox (including pdf-lib, PDF.js, Tesseract.js, and others) are the property of their respective copyright holders and are used under their respective open-source licenses.
You retain all rights to the files you process using DocDox. We claim no ownership over your documents, images, or any content you create using our tools.
7. Third-Party Services
DocDox integrates with third-party services including Google AdSense (for advertising) and the Anthropic Claude API (for the AI Summarizer). Your use of features powered by these services is also subject to the respective third-party terms of service and privacy policies. DocDox is not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
8. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of DocDox shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
